Safety by Design

We take safety seriously - from ensuring young people understand how their
data is being used to supporting users in crisis, we’re committed to designing safeguarded, reliable, accurate, and resonant technology that helps users stay safe. INUA Health’s ability to detect sensitive disclosures from young people
and connect them with relevant support, including emergency services, is just one example of how we’re designing with safety in mind.

Underpinned by Behavioral Science

Young people across Africa and Asia don't always see health services as being for them. Cultural barriers and stigma often prevent open conversations, and internal and external barriers prevent young people from accessing the health information and services they need.

INUA Health supports young people in navigating their health journeys - from awareness to action. The platform's content is developed by talented young women and social behaviour change, gender, and health experts from the communities where our users live. It not only delivers key information but also addresses the internal factors that prevent young people from accessing the care they need.

Culturally Grounded

Health systems are rarely designed with youth in mind. Health information can be confusing, and clinics are often unwelcoming and inaccessible to young people seeking care.

Co-designed with young people in the countries where we work, INUA Health is designed to reflect the local context and culture of the user. INUA Health has a personalized, youthful, judgment-free persona in each country - Big Sis in South Africa, WAZZIl in Kenya, and Bol Behen in India.

AI-Powered Answers

Millions of young people globally have sensitive health questions but struggle to find locally relevant, trustworthy information that addresses their specific concerns. Traditional search engines and health resources often lack cultural relevance and are impersonal and outdated.

INUA Health's locally relevant Al companions (Big Sis in South Africa, WAZZIl in Kenya, and Bol Behen in India) answer young people's pressing health questions, provide crucial information and support, and connect them to health services.

Equipped with Generative Al, these companions develop responses to users' questions by drawing from our existing content base and adhering to best practices in social behaviour change, following strict guardrails we've designed to ensure safe and appropriate responses.

By leveraging machine learning techniques, including clustering, we are tailoring our support based on where a girl is in her behaviour change journey, creating more relevant and impactful interactions.
